Mustache Power!
New York YankeesShare This Post June 6th, 2008The Yankees were on their way to another disappointing loss with two outs in the ninth when Jason Giambi flexed his mustache at a pitch that would land in the upperdeck in right field. The memorable walk-off heroics of the Great Giambino drew flashbacks to his True Yankees moment when he hit a walk-off grand slam against the Minnesota Twins in the 14th inning of Giambi’s first year in pinstripes. Could this be the season-changing moment the Yankees were looking for to get going? We can only hope…
It was Chien-Ming Wang’s fourth consecutive poor start and Joba’s heir to the 8th inning throne, Kyle Farnsworth, struggled yet again, allowing Toronto to pad their 1 run lead with an insurance run for their lights out closer BJ Ryan. But after two quick outs, Alex Rodriguez singled, advanced to second on defensive indifference (what an indifference, right?) and scored on Hideki Matsui’s single. That would set the stage for a pinch hit game winning walk off home run from the mustached, golden thong wearing Jason Giambi. Oh yes, it was high, it was far, it was GOOOOOONNNNEEE! THAAAAA YAAAANKEEESS WIN!
